Working the bees on a sunny morning

Absolutely beautiful time working the bees on a sunny morning in Killruddery House and Gardens this morning.

Dropped off loads #honey to the farm shop and then hit the #bees

I had a bit of an accident with thee smoker, in 9 years it never happened before. I had started the smoker, I always light it before closing up the veil on the suit. I was. just starting the 3rd hive and the smoker had died down a little soo I decided to crank it up by pushing. the bellows a lot and. unfortunately a spark came out and caught the wind and blew it up. into my face. But besides burning a hole in my suit it was perfect conditions. So much better than last weeks overcast and damp conditions

Bees here were behind most of the other sites, little bit exposed over the winter but they’re catching up now

Most are filling the 2nd box with lots of spring #honey and a few are on the 3rd box. Only one showing signs of swarming so far but I think this is because they are a couple of weeks behind the rest.

Met these bunch of gals on the way out, they’d been watching me all morning
